5 Home Design Trends for 2019
[25/03/2019]
Gold Highlights
After years of copper and matt black accents, we are not looking at gold! It’s made a come-back and can be seen in so many forms this year! Think door handles and light-fittings to decorative bowls and even textiles. Using this colour as an accent will brighten and lift a room while adding a touch of class.
Coloured Terrazzo
This trend doesn’t pigeon hole itself! We will be seeing coloured terrazzo bench tops, flooring in your kitchen and bathroom vanities or stand-out showers bases all using coloured concrete to make a statement. The product is so flexible that it really can make a bold and personal design choice, by adding in colours that you love.
Sustainable Furniture and Accessories
This year is all about re-using and sustainable pieces. The mass-produced look is gone, and instead people are looking for key, one-off pieces that are the focus of a room. The idea is that these pieces will be made from recycled goods or environmentally-friendly materials and add character to any home. don’t worry though – we aren't looking at the ‘re-used’ look, this is strictly elegant, unique and on-trend.
Living Coral
Living Coral was names as Pantone’s colour of the year 2019, so you are bound to see plenty of this colour everywhere you look!
"Colour is an equalising lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities, and this is particularly true for Living Coral. With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanising and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord." said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute.
This colour can blend in well with pastel pinks and oranges or can burst and pop against greys and navy blues.
Powder-coated aluminium outdoor furniture
A great choice for your outdoor entertaining area is Powder-coated aluminium, and this year it’s a big thing. With its easy maintenance, rust-resistance and light-weight designs, it’s a wonder this hasn’t been a more popular choice in previous years. With many colours available there is sure to be a piece to fit your space perfectly whether it’s a large garden or a small courtyard. There is even the opportunity to co-ordinate your furniture with your windows and doors.
