We were extremely lucky to have Fiona Nield (HIA Victorian Executive Director) and Tom Devitt (HIA Economist) present to our Combined Sales Meeting last week.

The HIA team gave our combined sales team a very interesting presentation on Population growth and Residential Building trends and hotspots. We also received some information on the new registration and licensing of trades in Victoria.

Our team gained a huge amount of value from this presentation, gaining knowledge in all these areas.

The biggest take-homes for our team were:

* Learning about new registration and licensing of trades is coming into effect in Victoria, and how this will impact our business and the construction business as a whole. You can read more on this here.

* Seeing the fastest growing areas of the country (for building and population), and what suburbs were strongest for each state. So, in Vic it was Rockbank, in QLD it was Pimpama, in NSW it was Riverstone – Marsden Park and in SA it was Munno Para West – Angle Vale.

* The trends of the construction industry for building new dwellings over the last 20 years

* Future predications for the industry, considering many factors including current wages, interest rates and finance approval information.
