Windows and Doors Buyers Guide
Doors Explained

As it is with windows, selecting the perfect door for a space can be a big challenge. It always pays to ask a few key questions before you dive in with your new build or renovation.

Questions like:
Do I want the door to feature prominently?
Do I want to create an indoor/outdoor balance?
What style dynamic will this create with my windows?

To help you decide what will suit the spaces in your home best, we’ve created this handy explanation on how the different types of doors work.

French Doors

French doors offer a stylish, classic option for both interior and exterior doors. Hinged at the sides and featuring light enabling glass panels, they open outwards to provide a ‘frame-free’ escape to your outdoor space. French doors are perfect access points to courtyards, gardens, and patios, and bring ample natural light into your home.

Bifold Doors

Available in a variety of panel configurations, these doors concertina back to the edges of the door opening – allowing for a large open area and a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor areas. Bifolds are perfect options for creating inspired alfresco dining and outdoor entertaining areas or indoor spaces that can be opened-up or closed-off as quickly as you can fold or unfold your bifold doors.

Sliding Doors

Sliding doors are quite simply two glass panels – one remains fixed, whilst the other panel slides to one side. The moveable panel is able to slide either left or right and the height and width are also available in multiple dimensions. The large, glazed space means that you get great views to your outdoor area with minimal interruption from the frames.

Sliding Stacking Doors

Stacking Sliding Doors take the functionality of sliding doors with the ability to create open indoor/outdoor spaces. In essence they work in a similar way to sliding doors, but have multiple panels that stack to one side. Offering an opening that is two thirds wider than the normal sliding door, stacking sliding doors are a perfect accompaniment to modern alfresco living.
