The Southern Star Group is proud to be involved with non-profit organisation Samaritan House.
Samaritan House is a Geelong community initiative to provide accommodation and support for homeless men. The house is open seven days a week and currently accommodates up to four men each night. Funded entirely by private donations and community fundraising; it relies on the assistance of more than 100 volunteers.
The current project consists of developing purpose-built accommodation for an additional nine homeless men, and will be constructed next to the existing house. This will bring the total capacity to 13 guests with three overnight volunteers.
With the build cost estimated at $625,000, donations of goods and services were called upon. The Southern Star Group was happy to get involved with the project by donating all the windows and doors for the new building, with products worth a total of $50,000 provided free of charge.
This is just one of the local community initiatives that the Southern Star Group actively participates in, as part of a desire to give back to the community in which the company operates within.
The Geelong Samaritan House is now in the finishing stages of building with completion expected soon.
